How do Gen Y’s vs Gen Z’s holiday shopping habits compare

To help retailers understand what is engaging and motivating young shoppers during the 2017 holiday season, NRF and Toluna surveyed 1,000 consumers between the ages of 18 and 36.

Survey highlights:

  • 73 percent of respondents report that they enjoy shopping more during the holidays compared to the rest of the year.
  • Compared to their Gen Z counterparts, Millennials are much more likely to set a holiday budget and stick to it.
  • Clothes are a top gift when shopping for friends, but also for self-gifting. More than half (54%) of respondents say they’re gifting clothes to their friends and 44 percent are also treating themselves apparel and accessories for themselves.
