Q. As a retail member, how do I get involved? How can NRF help me?
A. Glad you asked! While membership is on a companywide basis, value is always personally felt. Consistently our members tell us that participating in
committees and attending events provide them with the greatest value. The NRF website is structured by business function; explore the resources on the business unit page most relevant to your daily accountabilities. Additionally, sign-up for any of the various
e-newsletters and publications to ensure you are informed. Review the
calendar of events. Contact
Steven Glover for personalized assistance in ensuring you are taking advantage of all that is available to you through your company’s membership.
Q. As an associate member, how can NRF help me?A. NRF can help you to connect and build relationships with retailers by keeping you informed on industry news and statistics, current hot issues, and challenges. NRF not only offers you several opportunities to meet with retailers at events and conferences, but also opportunities to
strategically brand your business and demonstrate how your company may assist in offering solutions. You are also presented with an opportunity to network with your fellow solution providers.
Q. What are committees and do I have to pay to join a committee? How do I learn more about a committee or join?A. NRF offers retail members over 50 committees, councils, and task forces to network, share ideas, establish best practices, prepare testimony for Congress, and advance your career success. Generally speaking, committees are either policy-focused or operations-focused. Each committee establishes its own charter, has an elected chairman (from an NRF member company), and has a designated NRF Committee Staff Liaison. Complimentary participation is open to NRF Retail Members in accordance with the respective committee’s charter. Two committees are available to associate members on a complimentary basis. They are the
Associate Member Advisory Council and the
Sustainable Retailing Consortium. Both NRF Retail Members and Associate Members may participate in the Sustainable Retailing Consortium. To find those committees most relevant to your needs, visit the business unit pages on this website that best correspond to your daily accountabilities. For each of the committees, the NRF Committee Staff Liaison’s contact information is provided. To see the entire list of committees in alphabetical order,

Q. Does NRF sell mailing lists of its members? Where can I see who else is an NRF Member?A. NRF respects the privacy of its members and does not sell, rent, or make publicly available its membership list. Members have access to the searchable online
Membership Directory where they can locate other member companies. While general company contact information is available, no individual contact information is included in the directory. If you are interested in obtaining retail directories (organized alphabetically and by state), which also include information on wholesalers and distributors as well, contact
Chain Store Guide Information Services at 1-800-778-9794 or visit your local public library.
Q. What is the difference between Retail and Associate membership?A. Retail and Associate are “types” of membership and not "levels". The type of membership is determined by the nature of the member’s primary business. Those companies that primarily sell products to consumers (e.g.: specialty retailers, grocers, department stores, chain restaurants, etc), are classified as Retail Members. Those companies that provide solutions to retailers and/or sell products business-to-business are classified as Associate Members. Each type of membership has its own schedule of membership dues and benefits. The type of membership is determined by NRF staff at the time a company joins.
Q. How does NRF determine what topics are covered at NRF conferences? How do I submit a presentation idea for a conference?A. NRF content is determined by closely monitoring the recurring issues and questions brought up through NRF's committee structure. NRF staff serves as committee liaisons and, where possible, are appointed as "track leaders." Pressing issues or needs are slotted as speaker topics. Visit the
Call for Speakers for more information.
Q. How much does it cost to exhibit at a conference?A. Associate members receive discounted rates on exhibiting fees and priority points for rebooking. For specific information, refer to the
calendar of events.
Q. What sponsorship opportunities are available for associate members? How do I sponsor an event?A. Sponsorship opportunities include exclusive C-level gatherings, convention wide events, and speaking/thought leadership sponsorship opportunities. Visit
Strategic Branding for more information.
