Shop.org’s CyberMonday.com Has Record-Setting Holiday Shopping Season
--Site Raises $400,000 for Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund--

Washington, December 19, 2008—Shop.org announced today that its CyberMonday.com website has raised more than $400,000 for the Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund thus far during the 2008 holiday season. CyberMonday.com, a one-stop shop for holiday deals, is the official shopping website of Shop.org, NRF’s digital division, and is powered by Mall Networks.

“CyberMonday.com gives retailers an opportunity to gain new customers while supporting an important initiative to bring more talented professionals into our industry,” said Scott Silverman, Executive Director of Shop.org. “As the scholarship fund grows, the Shop.org community reflects on the significant contributions that Ray Greenly made to online retail and is excited to provide scholarships for students in his memory.”

As CyberMonday.com sees increased traffic, recognition of the term “Cyber Monday” also continues to rise among shoppers. According to the Shop.org eHoliday Study, conducted by Shopzilla, three in four holiday shoppers (75.9%) have heard of Cyber Monday. A survey conducted by BIGresearch for Shop.org found that 85 million Americans shopped on Cyber Monday, up from 72 million in 2007.

According to Mall Networks, which powers the website, shoppers have spent more than $12 million through CyberMonday.com this holiday season and more than $23 million since the website was launched in November 2006. The website had 2.4 million unique visitors on Cyber Monday alone, up from 1.5 million on Cyber Monday 2007.

“CyberMonday.com has become a clearinghouse of holiday deals for shoppers, evidenced by tremendous year-over-year increases in site traffic,” said Tom Beecher, President and CEO, Mall Networks. “As budget-focused shoppers head online, they use sites like CyberMonday.com to find deals and markdowns on the season’s most popular products.”

All of Shop.org's proceeds from items purchased through CyberMonday.com help support Ray's scholarship and his memory. The Fund has collected more than $800,000 since it was created less than three years ago, with contributions from corporations and individuals, as well as revenue raised from CyberMonday.com.

The Scholarship Fund was established in January 2006 to provide financial support to students pursuing careers in the e-commerce industry and commemorates the life of Ray Greenly, a valued online retail industry veteran who passed away in 2005. Ray served as the Vice President of Research and Member Services of Shop.org for almost seven years and was responsible for the management of The State of Retailing Online, the premier annual e-commerce benchmarking study, and Shop.org's membership.

Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation, is the world's leading membership community for digital retail.
