Retail’s BIG Show Places 151st on Trade Show News Network’s Prestigious List

Washington, May 10, 2012 – Already the premier trade event for retailers across the world, Retail’s BIG Show has once again been recognized as one of the biggest trade events as well. Trade Show News Network, the world's leading online resource for the trade show, exhibition and event industry, placed NRF’s 2011 event at #151 on its prestigious list of Top 250 Trade Shows. The award recognizes the top trade events held each year in the United States and ranks each by total net square footage. NRF celebrated the 100th anniversary of its annual convention and EXPO last year and welcomed more than 22,500 attendees and exhibitors from around the world and boasted more than 152,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City.

“Retail’s BIG Show is seen by thousands in the retail industry as the must-attend event of the year, further demonstrating the importance of retail as it powers innovation and provides consumer value,” said NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay. “After 100 years as the premier trade event for retail professionals, it’s rewarding to see how far we’ve come as an industry and how critical education and networking is.”

Retail’s BIG Show broke all previously-set attendance records in 2012 when it drew more than 25,500 retail CEOs, senior executives, exhibiting companies, international attendees and media from around the world.

In late 2011, NRF was also named one of the Top 40 Fastest Growing Trade Shows by TSNN, which recognized the BIG Show’s cumulative attendance growth between 2008 and 2010.

NRF’s Annual Convention and EXPO serves as the world's leading retail event, bringing 25,500 retail executives and vendors from more than 75 countries together for educational and networking opportunities. NRF’s EXPO floor, open on Monday and Tuesday of the Convention, hosts more than 425 exhibiting companies and features special sessions produced by NRF covering a wide range of topics such as sustainability, visual merchandising and the global economy. NRF's Convention has been ranked as one of the Top 250 events in North America as well as one of the Top 40 Fastest Growing Trade Shows.

As the world’s largest retail trade association and the voice of retail worldwide, NRF represents retailers of all types and sizes, including chain restaurants and industry partners, from the United States and more than 45 countries abroad. Retailers operate more than 3.6 million U.S. establishments that support one in four U.S. jobs – 42 million working Americans. Contributing $2.5 trillion to annual GDP, retail is a daily barometer for the nation’s economy. NRF’s Retail Means Jobs campaign emphasizes the economic importance of retail and encourages policymakers to support a Jobs, Innovation and Consumer Value Agenda aimed at boosting economic growth and job creation. www.nrf.com
