NRF Grows Loss Prevention Team with Addition of Retail Veteran Richard Mellor -Former Helzberg Diamonds DVP Joins NRF as Vice President, Loss Prevention-
Washington, November 14, 2011 - The National Retail Federation announced today that Richard Mellor, a retail security and loss prevention expert with more than 30 years of industry experience, will join NRF as Vice President of Loss Prevention on November 28. As the head of a seasoned loss prevention team, which includes Senior Asset Protection Advisor Joe LaRocca and Senior Director Angelica Rodriguez, Mellor will be responsible for the direction of such loss prevention initiatives as NRF's annual Loss Prevention Conference, LP Advisory Council, and the NRF Investigator's Network. Mellor will also work to raise the visibility of retail loss prevention issues including organized retail crime and return fraud and is reporting to Senior Vice President of Communities Vicki Cantrell.

Throughout his career in retail security and loss prevention, Mellor has served as an executive with companies such as Helzberg Diamonds, Macy’s and Woodward & Lothrop. He comes to NRF after 12 years with Helzberg Diamonds, having most recently served as Divisional Vice President of Loss Prevention. Previously, Mellor was Divisional Vice President of Loss Prevention and Security for The Bon-Ton Stores and Regional Director of Security for Macy’s East. Mellor began his career in retail security management with John Wanamaker Stores, eventually serving as their Divisional Vice President of Corporate Security.
In 2005, Rich was awarded NRF’s Silver Plaque, which recognizes his leadership and influence on the retail LP community. He has been an active member of the NRF LP Advisory Council for more than 20 years, which includes his tenure as Chairman of the Council from 2002 to 2005.
