ARTS Digital Receipts Standard to be Utilized by New QuickReceipts Program
Washington, December 1, 2010 – In recent years, the adoption of digital receipts has served as a way for companies to both save on printing and paper costs as well as offer shoppers a new way to track their purchases. As the leader in retail technology standards, the National Retail Federation’s Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) today announces Intuit, the company whose flagships includes QuickBooks®, Quicken® and TurboTax®, has adopted ARTS Digital Receipts Standard to use in their QuickReceipts program.
Using the ARTS Digital Receipt standard, Intuit’s QuickReceipts will pull receipts from retailer point-of-sale systems into a central, secure database. Once registered, consumers can store and retrieve their receipts from participating retailers such as The Container Store.
“With the growing popularity of mobile and contactless payment options, digital receipts are becoming more of a necessity than ever before. In recognition of this, ARTS currently has a work team, led by ThirdSolutions, which is updating the Digital Receipt Schema to fully embrace these new technologies,” said ARTS Executive Director Richard Mader. “We look forward to working with Oracle, Intuit and other companies as they adopt digital receipt technologies as well as other standards to support the retail industry.”
“Instead of starting from scratch, we decided to leverage the ARTS Digital Receipts standard,” said Abe Zafar, Technical Architect at Intuit. “It’s an important standard because it allows us to quickly integrate to different retailer systems.”
“The ARTS Digital Receipt standard made our integration with QuickReceipts virtually pain-free,” said David Dorf, Sr. Director at Oracle Retail. “Shoppers and retailers alike really stand to benefit from the added convenience this standard offers.”
Consumers can access their receipts from the Internet or from the QuickReceipts iPhone application. Intuit plans to support additional mobile devices as well. During NRF’s 100th Annual Convention in January, 2011, Oracle will be demonstrating their integration with QuickReceipts in their booth (3258) and the ARTS Pavilion (1951).
