Consumer behavior toward sustainability and the green movement gained significant momentum between 2006 and 2008. Has the tough economic climate slowed that momentum, and if so how and where. Will Ander, co-author of Greentailing and Other Revolutions in Retail, will review proprietary research on consumer attitudes and behavior towards greentailing, including findings on what consumers would like from retailers and the retail industry. Speaker: Will Ander Part II - Turning Over to the Green Side – It’s Not Too Late Yet Competing for sustainability-minded consumers requires fundamental changes in marketing strategies and operational systems. The current economic environment might provide a good opportunity for retailers to reevaluate their strategies and decide whether a new focus on the “green” consumer can help them weather the storm. By taking the offensive, retailers can identify ways of cutting costs while delivering new products and services that can improve the customer experience. Additionally, investments in store remodels and the retailer’s logistics fleet could make sustainability an even more attractive investment. Scott Bearse, director and retail leader of Deloitte’s Enterprise Sustainability group, will share insights about the importance of green branding and how being sustainable can differentiate a company in today’s highly competitive marketplace.
