Biography:

Karen Shunk was named Vice President, ARTS, a community of the National Retail Federation (NRF), in 2011. The Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) is dedicated to creating an international, barrier-free technology environment for retailers, and in this role she is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the ARTS retail standards community, including member relations, web content and the ARTS social media presence.

From 2008 to 2011, she was Vice President, Application Development in the NRF IT Department, managing the design, development, testing and implementation of in-house software applications, and the review/selection of all package software applications. In that role she also worked closely with ARTS.

Prior to her promotion, she was the Senior Director, Technology Standards, and before that was the Senior Director, Member Services in the NRF membership Department. Shunk came to NRF from the Food Marketing Institute.

She is a 1991 graduate of San Francisco State University and earned her MA in International Affairs at the George Washington University.
