Biography:

Mike Cys joined NRF in 2012 as Vice President of State and Political Affairs. He serves as the liaison to state retail associations and is responsible for overseeing NRF’s grassroots activities, political programs, and political action committee.

Cys is a veteran political strategist who has managed numerous political and issue advocacy campaigns at the state and national levels.  Prior to NRF, he was a managing partner at Total Spectrum, a public affairs firm that specialized in political, grassroots, and legislative programs.

For 10 years, Cys served as the Political and Grassroots Director for the American Medical Association (AMA), overseeing the spending of more than $20 million on PAC contributions and independent expenditures. He also managed the AMA’s massive grassroots network of physicians and patients, and ran their issue advocacy campaigns, including recruitment of patient volunteers, crafting of media advertising, and directing of political and voter research programs.

Cys started his career as a reporter and graduated from Valparaiso University.
