Biography:

Stephen Edward Schatz, Sr., joined the National Retail Federation as Senior Director of Media Relations, Communications and Public Affairs in September 2011. In this capacity, Schatz works to promote and advance the retail industry’s government affairs and legislative agenda through public relations and media outreach.

Prior to NRF, Schatz served as Director of Media Relations for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), an NRF member, where he coordinated member and media communications.

Before joining NACDS, Schatz served in the Administration of former President George W. Bush, where he worked at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy as Deputy Press Secretary. Prior to his service in the Executive Office of the President, Schatz served on Capitol Hill for the U.S. House of Representatives as both a Communications Director and Legislative Assistant.

Schatz attended The Catholic University of America, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Politics. Schatz is a native of Rego Park, New York, and currently resides in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife, Edith, and their two sons, Stephen Jr., and George.
